Gates launches halogen-free liquid cooling hose for data centers

Gates has announced the launch of the Data Master Eco, a new liquid cooling hose designed for hyperscale data centers and high-performance computing environments. The company claims the Data Master Eco addresses the increasing demands of artificial intelligence workloads and modern data center operations by delivering reliable thermal management while reducing environmental impact.

According to Gates, the Data Master Eco features a fully halogen-free construction that meets IEC, EN, and JEDEC/ECA material standards, simplifying regulatory compliance and supporting environmental goals. The company reports a flame-resistant cover certified to UL94V-0 and a low-extractables, ultra-clean design to help preserve coolant purity and protect high-performance computing components.

Gates has streamlined its manufacturing process for the Data Master Eco, claiming a reduction in energy use of approximately 75 percent compared to traditional methods. The new process eliminates the need for natural gas, water, and steam in curing, which Gates states reduces embodied emissions and increases production efficiency. The hose is reportedly 15 percent lighter and maintains the flexibility and reliability typical of the Data Master family, with fewer material types and layers to simplify recycling and end-of-life processing.

The Data Master Eco expands Gates’ Data Center Solutions portfolio, which is designed to support direct-to-chip cooling in AI and high-performance computing environments. This portfolio includes flexible hoses, compact pumps, and quick-connect couplings compatible with Open Compute Project-aligned architectures. Gates states that the addition of the Data Master Eco reinforces its focus on scalable, energy-efficient cooling for the data center sector.

“We’re giving data centers a way to lower their environmental footprint without compromising thermal performance or reliability,” said Mike Haen, vice president, global product line management and marketing at Gates.

The Data Master Eco and supporting components are now available globally.
