New Era Energy and Digital has announced that its joint venture, Texas Critical Data Centers (TCDC), formed with Sharon AI, has signed a partnership with EYP Mission Critical Facilities, part of Ramboll. EYP will provide engineering and design services for TCDC’s planned AI data center and integrated power campus on a 438-acre site in Ector County near Odessa, Texas.
According to New Era Energy and Digital, EYP Mission Critical Facilities will deliver comprehensive site engineering, facility design, powered shell structures, and electrical systems. The project will connect to dedicated on-site power resources—planned to start with 400 megawatts of natural gas generation, with the potential to scale to 1 gigawatt—and will be linked to the regional utility grid.
The site targets high-density compute environments optimized for AI workloads, integrating next-generation systems and pursuing the lowest achievable Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) metrics. The design enables a vertically integrated model with both powered land and powered shells, intended to offer hyperscale tenants flexible leasing and fast deployment options for scalable, energy-resilient AI infrastructure, according to TCDC.
In the official announcement, Will Gray, CEO of New Era Energy and Digital, said: “This partnership with EYP MCF is a key milestone in accelerating our flagship AI data center project in West Texas, combining world-class engineering with our integrated energy assets to power the future of AI computing.” He added, “By incorporating advanced high-density compute designs and pursuing the lowest achievable PUE in a cost-effective manner, we are committed to creating net-zero energy solutions that drive economic growth in the Permian Basin while meeting the demands of global enterprises.”
Kevin Sanders, Division Officer of Data Center Consulting and Strategy at EYP Mission Critical Facilities, stated: “We are thrilled to partner with TCDC on this groundbreaking initiative, applying our extensive knowledge to engineer a resilient and efficient AI ecosystem.” He added, “Our focus on sustainable design will help realize TCDC’s vision for a 1 GW-scale campus that leverages local natural gas resources for reliable, low-carbon power.”
