Fortinet has announced its Secure AI Data Center solution, a comprehensive security framework purpose-built to protect artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructures, particularly within data centers hosting high-density GPU clusters. The framework spans the full AI stack, delivering threat defense for data center infrastructure, applications, and large language models. Fortinet claims the solution can cut power usage by an average of 69 percent compared to traditional approaches.
The company’s newest hardware for this solution is the FortiGate 3800G, a data center firewall that features NP7 and SP5 application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and 400 GbE connectivity. According to Fortinet, this device provides high throughput and real-time protection required for large-scale AI workloads. Key technical data include: 800 Gbps firewall throughput, 210 Gbps IPsec VPN throughput, 200 Gbps threat protection, and support for up to 200 million concurrent sessions. The company notes that these benchmarks compare favorably to leading competitors, with significantly higher throughput and capacity.
The Secure AI Data Center solution targets hyperscale operators, colocation providers, and enterprise data centers deploying AI workloads. Fortinet states the framework delivers network segmentation, encrypted traffic inspection, and application/model-level security. Layered defenses are designed to prevent data leakage, malicious input, and code injection in AI models and APIs—including protection against prompt injection attacks and data misuse. The system embeds post-quantum cryptography and quantum key distribution to protect AI data against emerging quantum threats.
For operational efficiency, the Secure AI Data Center solution integrates with the Fortinet Security Fabric for unified management of firewalling, application security, and AI runtime protections. Fortinet claims this reduces audit times and operational complexity for organizations operating at scale. The solution also addresses compliance requirements for AI environments and sustainability goals through improved power efficiency.
Nirav Shah, Senior Vice President of Products and Solutions at Fortinet, stated, “AI data centers demand both massive performance and deep protection,” noting, “Our Secure AI Data Center solution unifies those capabilities, combining ASIC-powered firewalls like the FortiGate 3800G with advanced protection for data, applications and LLMs so organizations can scale AI without compromising security, performance, or efficiency.”
Huy Ly, Head of Global IT Security at Monolithic Power Systems, added, “The Fortinet Secure AI Data Center solution gives us the visibility, performance, and protection we need to operate high-density GPU clusters with confidence. With this solution integrated into our AI environment, we can safeguard sensitive models and data while maintaining hyperscale throughput with greater efficiency and cost performance.”
