EES targets sub-2 ppm NOx for on-site power at AI data centers with DeNOx SCR platform

Environmental Energy Services (EES) has announced its next-generation DeNOx Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) platform, which it says is achieving sub-2 ppm nitrogen oxides (NOx) performance for simple-cycle turbines, internal combustion (IC) engines, and industrial energy systems. EES positions the platform as a compliance tool for AI-driven data center operators expanding on-site generation, as US states advance tighter emissions permitting for distributed generation and backup assets.

EES says data center developers are facing permitting and approval pressure as emissions limits tighten on fast-start backup turbines and engine systems. The company states that its SCR approach is intended to help operators meet air-quality requirements without compromising uptime for mission-critical power assets. “AI infrastructure cannot afford compliance delays,” said Robert Santangeli, Senior VP of Operations and Engineering at EES. “Our DeNOx platform was engineered specifically for fast-start, mission-critical power assets where uptime and environmental performance must coexist.”

EES claims its DeNOx technology is designed for on-site gas turbines and reciprocating engines used to supplement grid constraints at AI data centers, and it contrasts the design with conventional SCR systems built for baseload applications. EES lists the platform’s technical attributes as sub-2 ppm NOx reduction performance, minimal ammonia slip with precision injection control, advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD)-based flow design, integrated NOx monitoring and controls, and extended catalyst life with reduced lifecycle costs.

EES reports its SCR systems are operating at data centers, manufacturing plants, and industrial energy facilities across the US, including installations supporting microgrids and high-reliability campuses. The company says it provides a turnkey emissions solution by integrating engineering design, reagent delivery systems, catalyst management, and in-house instrumentation, with the goal of accelerating deployment and supporting long-term regulatory compliance.

EES also points to a technical webinar, titled “Unlocking DeNOx Excellence for AI-Powered and Industrial Facilities,” describing how it engineers proprietary SCR systems for high-duty-cycle, rapid-ramp generation assets used in AI campuses and industrial microgrids.
