Advantech launches AMD EPYC 9006 servers with PCIe Gen6 and CXL 3.1

Advantech has introduced a new set of server and network platforms built on AMD EPYC 9006 Series processors, targeting AI infrastructure deployments that span data centers and edge sites. The lineup includes DC-MHS and modular server designs, plus a 2U network appliance aimed at security and edge AI workloads.

On the CPU side, the systems are based on 6th Gen AMD EPYC 9006 Series processors, with configurations that scale up to 128 cores and 256 threads using “Zen 6” and “Zen 6c” architecture. AMD lists an “advanced 2 nm process technology,” up to 20% average generational performance uplift, and up to 20% performance-per-watt improvement. Platform I/O and memory support called out includes up to 128 PCIe Gen6 lanes per CPU, CXL 3.1 memory expansion, and support for DDR5-8000 and MRDIMM 12.8G.

Systems and boards in the first wave

Advantech’s initial portfolio of AMD EPYC 9006-based systems includes the SKY-642E5 4U MGX GPU server; the SKY-722E5 2U DC-MHS server with DC-SCM support; the SKY-712E5 1U DC-MHS server supporting HHHL and FH-3/4L expansion cards; the SKY-822E5 2U short-depth DC-SCM modular server supporting 2–3 dual-slot GPU cards; and the SKY-924E5F 2U 4-node front-access server. It also includes the ASMB-982 and ASMB-832 server boards.

Across the platform family, Advantech highlights PCIe Gen6 scalability, “GPU-optimized” architecture, and support for high-density E1.S and E3.S NVMe SSD storage described as “AFA-ready.” For data center engineers, the main practical takeaway is straightforward: PCIe Gen6 plus higher-bandwidth DDR5 and MRDIMMs push more headroom into the I/O and memory side of the system, which is often where AI infrastructure gets bottlenecked before raw CPU cores do.

2U network appliance for security and edge AI

Advantech also introduced the FWA-6084 2U network appliance for network security and edge AI. The company lists DDR5/MRDIMM capability, support for eight Gen6 network module cards, and one PCIe Gen5 x16 slot for GPU or add-on card expansion. Advantech says the system is positioned to support “line-speed multiple 200G network workloads without compromise.”
