Celestica launches SD6300 ultra-dense storage expansion for hyperscale data centers

Celestica has announced the launch of its SD6300 ultra-dense storage expansion platform, targeting hyperscale operators, colocation providers, and AI-driven data center environments. The SD6300 is a 4U just-a-bunch-of-disks (JBOD) system featuring 108 dual-port large form factor Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drive bays, SAS-4 uplink, and a high-availability architecture designed to maximize storage density and system-level redundancy within a compact footprint.

This new storage chassis measures 1125 mm deep, including the cable management assembly, enabling it to fit within standard 1200 mm racks. Celestica claims the SD6300 is the industry’s densest and most compact JBOD, as reported by storage analyst firm Trendfocus. Key technical features include support for up to four SAS-4 solid-state drives to boost overall system throughput, as well as full high-availability and redundant architecture for data protection and uptime.

The SD6300 is targeted for hyperscale, enterprise, and AI infrastructure deployments and is optimized for data ingest and archive in artificial intelligence environments, traditional data lakes, cold storage, object storage, big data, and analytics. Other target markets noted by Celestica include research, oil and gas exploration, government, healthcare, and financial services.

Don Jeanette, Vice President of Trendfocus, states, “The SD6300 is Celestica’s next-generation ultra-high-density 4U JBOD with SAS-4 system uplink. It is the industry’s most compact and densest storage expansion system, supporting 108 drive bays within a 1125 mm deep footprint. The SD6300 also features four dedicated SAS-4 drive bays, supporting SAS-4 solid-state drives (SSDs), to deliver greater overall system read and write performance. Celestica’s SD6300 will be a much-welcomed storage system as organizations seek to maximize the utilization of their data center floor space and minimize CapEx and OpEx spend. We find the SD6300 will be an ideal solution for AI ingest and archiving phases, traditional HA enterprise applications, as well as hyperscale environments. This latest offering illustrates the trust in the SAS infrastructure for performance and long-term reliability for many years.”
