Generac to acquire Enercon to expand data center backup power switchgear and generator enclosures

Generac has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Enercon Engineering, adding manufacturing and engineering capacity for generator enclosures, industrial enclosures, and UL-certified switchgear aimed at mission-critical applications.

Enercon, founded in 1975 and headquartered in East Peoria, Illinois, designs and manufactures custom power equipment and industrial enclosures for high-reliability applications. It has more than 120 employees and operates a 160,000-square-foot manufacturing facility.

Generac says the acquisition adds to its recent capacity build-out for Commercial and Industrial products, alongside a new plant in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and a new facility in Sussex, Wisconsin. The company also says the acquisition supports its plan to scale Commercial and Industrial manufacturing capacity and to double Commercial and Industrial product sales in the years ahead, with backup power generators sold into the data center market expected to be a primary growth driver.

“Enercon brings 50 years of proven expertise in custom power systems, and their deep in-house engineering and manufacturing capabilities strengthen and accelerate Generac’s Commercial & Industrial business,” said Aaron Jagdfeld, Chairman, President and CEO of Generac. “From UL-certified switchgear to power distribution solutions and generator enclosures, this positions us to better serve hyperscale and enterprise data center markets in particular, where reliability, precision and excellence are critical,”

Upon closing, Enercon will operate as “Enercon, a Generac company” under Generac’s Domestic Commercial and Industrial Business Group, and the current leadership team will continue to lead the business. Closing is subject to regulatory approvals and is anticipated in the second quarter of 2026.
