Halliburton has announced that, in partnership with VoltaGrid, it has secured manufacturing for 400 megawatts of modular natural gas power systems intended for delivery in 2028. The companies report the power systems will be used to support the growth of data centers across the Eastern Hemisphere.
According to Halliburton and VoltaGrid, the new modular natural gas power systems are designed to meet the high power demands of hyperscale data centers, which are essential for applications such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure expansion. The two firms note that these distributed power units are engineered for scalable and reliable deployment, specifically targeting the operational requirements of large-scale data centers.
The solution is said to have a lower emissions profile compared to diesel power generation, aligning with evolving infrastructure standards and sustainability objectives within the data center industry, as stated by the companies.
Jeff Miller, chairman, president, and CEO of Halliburton, stated, “Customers require unprecedented levels of power to support their digital infrastructure growth,” and continued, “This investment demonstrates our ability to deliver power solutions that support growth and performance at scale.”
Further highlighting the focus of the collaboration, Nathan Ough, CEO of VoltaGrid, explained, “The Eastern Hemisphere represents a transformational opportunity for data center investment and associated power generation. We are excited about collaborating with Halliburton and making our first capital commitment to the region. Utilizing the proven VoltaGrid platform will enable expedited growth of our international collaboration with Halliburton.”
