StarCharge Americas has finalized a Master Service Agreement (MSA) with Beneficial Holdings for the deployment of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) totaling more than 32.24 gigawatt-hours (GWh) across the United States and Puerto Rico. StarCharge reports the agreement covers approximately $3.2 billion in contracts, specifically targeting critical infrastructure projects, including data centers. The first of 29 planned projects is set to launch in June 2026.
According to StarCharge, its BESS platforms will play a key role in meeting rising energy resiliency requirements among data centers, integrating traditional power infrastructure with renewable sources. The company notes its systems are designed for robust black start capability, rapid recovery from outages, and supporting grid stability.
Applications cited by the companies focus on data centers and other infrastructure projects that require scalable, reliable backup and renewable energy integration. StarCharge states the partnership aims to address power congestion and reliability issues facing hyperscale and colocation providers in both established and growth markets across the US and Puerto Rico.
“The implications of this deal,” said Andreas Fornwald, Chief Development Officer at StarCharge Americas, “extend far beyond mere numbers, given such large contracts signal a monumental shift in the US energy storage industry, particularly as it relates to the burgeoning demand for data centers.”
“As data centers increasingly require versatile and reliable energy solutions,” said Dave Hyland, Vice President of Sales at StarCharge, “we have advanced energy storage systems that stand out when efficiency is critical; our solutions ensure that storage is not only cost-effective—enabling significant savings—but also robust enough to provide the reliability that is non-negotiable in this sector.”
StarCharge is headquartered in Fremont, California with manufacturing in Columbus, Ohio, and supplies battery storage, electric vehicle charging, and microgrid solutions. Beneficial Holdings develops infrastructure, including stand-alone battery storage and powered land projects from its headquarters in Newark, New Jersey.
