Supermicro and VAST Data launch integrated AI data center platform with NVIDIA-accelerated servers, storage and cooling-ready racks

Supermicro has announced, with VAST Data, the CNode-X Solution, a “highly integrated, rapidly deployable AI Data Platform” that combines Supermicro GPU and storage servers, the VAST AI Operating System, and NVIDIA open models, microservices, and libraries. The companies position it as a ready-to-run stack aimed at speeding deployment of enterprise AI infrastructure by bundling compute, scalable data infrastructure, and software into one platform.

The stack is built around the VAST AI Operating System, including the VAST InsightEngine and VAST DataBase, integrated with NVIDIA accelerated computing models and software, and deployed on Supermicro hardware. According to Supermicro, CNode-X follows the NVIDIA AI Data Platform reference architecture, adding GPU acceleration to “accelerate data vectorization, vector database searching, and inference workloads.”

On the hardware side, Supermicro says the platform uses its CloudDC AS-1116CS-TN from the EBox Solution and adds the Supermicro SYS-212GB-FNR 2U multi-GPU compute server. Supermicro reports the SYS-212GB-FNR supports two NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs in a compact 2U form factor. Supermicro also notes its existing EBox solution with VAST, launched in 2024, “combines two different server nodes into a single server,” and that the second-generation EBox has been updated to AMD EPYC 9005 CPUs.

On the software side, Supermicro says the VAST AI OS is supported by NVIDIA software libraries and integrated with Supermicro hardware to deliver “pre-configured, ready-to-run AI workflows for real-time agents using VAST AgentEngine, and enterprise Generative AI using InsightEngine.” In a larger “AI factory” deployment, Supermicro says CNode-X can act as the storage layer when paired with Supermicro large-scale AI servers, including “8-way GPU servers using NVIDIA’s HGX B300 servers,” and Supermicro end-to-end liquid-cooling solutions.

For deployment and operations, Supermicro says its Rack Integration services cover system architecture planning, factory integration, testing and software installation, on-site deployment, network cable installation, and acceptance testing. For ongoing operations, Supermicro says the SuperCloud Suite provides “single pane-of-glass management” for Supermicro systems and cooling subsystems, plus third-party switches and servers. Supermicro and VAST Data presented the AI Data Platform solution at the VAST Forward conference in Salt Lake City, held February 24-26.
