ThinLinc remote Linux desktops now supported on 10ZiG PeakOS, RepurpOS

10ZiG Technology and Cendio have partnered to support secure access to centralized Linux desktops and applications by combining 10ZiG endpoint devices and software with Cendio’s ThinLinc server-based computing platform. The tie-up targets organizations running Linux desktop environments that want a remote/centralized model with simpler endpoint operations.

The key technical change is native ThinLinc support across 10ZiG endpoint solutions as part of the 10ZiG Ready ecosystem. ThinLinc can run on both Windows- and Linux-based 10ZiG clients, but the integration is built directly into 10ZiG PeakOS and RepurpOS, enabling a Linux-to-Linux desktop workflow where the endpoint OS and the remote desktop stack are both Linux-based.

On the endpoint side, 10ZiG is emphasizing thin clients, repurposing software, and its no-cost 10ZiG Manager platform for endpoint management. The companies describe the target architecture as lightweight and stateless, using read-only Linux operating systems to reduce endpoint complexity while keeping applications and data centralized in the data center.

ThinLinc is positioned as the server-based computing layer: a Linux-based platform for centralizing desktops and applications while providing remote access to users. The product is built on open-source technologies and aimed at enterprise deployments, with centralized administration intended to simplify management and keep data off endpoint devices.

Practically, the interesting part for infrastructure teams is the end-to-end Linux focus. If you’re standardizing Linux desktops for engineering, research, or similar workflows, baking the client into the endpoint OS can reduce the number of moving parts at the edge. But the operational win will depend on how well the integrated client, endpoint management, and session behavior hold up under real-world latency, display, and peripheral requirements, because that’s where “remote desktop” projects tend to succeed or fail.

Tom Dodds, Global Strategic Alliances Manager at 10ZiG Technology, said, “By integrating the ThinLinc client directly into PeakOS and RepurpOS, we’re giving customers the ability to deploy a true Linux-to-Linux workspace while also supporting Windows-based endpoints where needed.”

Johan Igheimer, CEO at Cendio and ThinLinc USA, said working with 10ZiG adds purpose-built endpoint hardware and management, with the goal of a combined solution “that is simple to deploy, easy to manage, and built for long-term success.”
