Vertiv acquires Waylay to boost AI-driven data center power and cooling optimization

Vertiv has announced the acquisition of Waylay, a Belgium-based software company specializing in hyperautomation and artificial intelligence (AI) platforms. This acquisition is part of Vertiv’s ongoing strategy to enhance its AI-driven monitoring, predictive services, and performance optimization capabilities for digital infrastructure, particularly targeting power and cooling systems in data centers.

Vertiv reports that the integration of Waylay’s AI technology will bolster its ability to offer real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and dynamic optimization of power and thermal systems. These functions are increasingly critical for supporting high-density, high-performance computing environments required by generative AI workloads in data centers. According to Vertiv, this enhances its capacity to deliver advanced operational intelligence and maximize uptime across customer facilities globally.

Waylay, founded in 2014, has developed an AI-powered hyperautomation software platform that provides workflow-based automation, integration, and orchestration across connected assets, enterprise applications, and cloud services. The platform offers data analytics and orchestration capabilities designed for rapid deployment, with a focus on reducing integration costs. Vertiv points out that the software analyzes real-time machine data, identifies operational trends, and enables predictive actions to help minimize downtime and improve critical system performance.

Vertiv highlights that these advancements address the ongoing demand for intelligent, adaptive infrastructure in the data center industry as AI workloads expand. With the addition of Waylay’s technology and engineering team, Vertiv aims to accelerate its vision of delivering data-driven, proactive, and optimized digital infrastructure for hyperscale operators, colocation providers, and technology vendors.

“With the addition of Waylay’s technology and software-focused team, Vertiv will accelerate its vision of intelligent infrastructure — data-driven, proactive, and optimized for the world’s most demanding environments,” said Giordano Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv.
