Electrovaya launches ElvaPulse 1500 BESS with 7 MW, 2.88 MWh capacity

Electrovaya has launched the ElvaPulse 1500, a containerized stationary battery energy storage system (BESS) platform aimed at data centers and other mission-critical power applications that need short-duration, high-power discharge.

ElvaPulse 1500 is built around a modular 20-foot container and a 1500 VDC architecture. Electrovaya lists up to 2.88 MWh of nominal energy capacity per container, with configurations delivering up to approximately 7 MW of continuous power. The company also states that this power-to-energy ratio allows the system to discharge its full rated capacity in under 30 minutes.

For data center operators dealing with fast, spiky load profiles—especially where AI clusters can drive large, rapid power steps—short-duration, high-power storage is a different tool than the more common multi-hour BESS used for energy shifting. In practical terms, the design target here is burst capability and cycling, not long runtime.

ElvaPulse 1500 is the first product in Electrovaya’s ElvaPulse stationary energy storage portfolio. The platform uses a ceramic separator design tied to Electrovaya’s Infinity Battery Technology, which the company says has been validated across more than 30,000 battery systems operating in industrial environments. Electrovaya lists target use cases including AI and data center infrastructure, resilient microgrids, industrial power management, critical backup power, peak-demand management, and renewable-energy firming.

Electrovaya has initiated certification activities for ElvaPulse 1500 under UL 1973 and UL 9540, with completion targeted for the first quarter of calendar year 2027. The company is accepting production reservations now, and it is targeting initial deliveries in the second quarter of calendar year 2027 from its Jamestown, New York manufacturing facility.

“With up to 7 MW of continuous power from a single 20-foot container, ElvaPulse 1500 offers the highest power density available in a stationary lithium-ion platform today,” said Raj DasGupta, CEO of Electrovaya.
