Advanced Energy launches ultra efficient 1300 W and 1600 W DC-DC converters for data center and server power racks

Advanced Energy has announced two new additions to its non-isolated bus converter (NIBC) family: the Artesyn NDQ1300 and NDQ1600 quarter-brick power modules. These modules are designed for 48 V to 12 V conversion in high-performance information and communication technology (ICT) equipment, with target applications including AI servers, networking infrastructure, and industrial platforms such as robotics and test systems.

Both modules operate with peak efficiencies up to 98 percent and deliver 1300 W and 1600 W, respectively. Each module converts a 48 V input into a fully regulated 12 V output for non-isolated, low-voltage, high-current power stages as well as components such as PCIE slots and memory devices. Advanced Energy notes that these modules are especially suited for designs where power density is critical.

The NDQ1300 and NDQ1600 feature a flat efficiency curve to maintain optimal conversion across varying load conditions. Modules include a PMBus digital interface for control and monitoring, current-share and remote sensing options for parallel operation, and a transformer-based topology that provides resilience to transient loads and simplifies inrush current-control during startup. The advanced baseplate design enhances thermal management and enables straightforward heatsink integration, supporting higher power densities in limited spaces.

Both quarter-brick modules use a standard footprint for ease of design and power scaling, making them suitable for new or upgraded data center and AI infrastructure as well as other high-performance industrial and computing applications.

Joe Voyles, Advanced Energy’s vice president, Industrial Power Conversion, System Power, said, “The NDQ1300 and NDQ1600 deliver high power density and high efficiency across the range, offer a standard footprint to optimize performance, reduce power use and size, and simplify design.”
