Patton has announced the FiberPlex QSFX-100DD Data Diode SFP Module, which it describes as a new generation of high-security pluggable optics. Patton says the module is available for pre-order, with delivery expected April 2026. The company positions the product as a hardware-enforced, unidirectional data-flow device aimed at protecting sensitive information in high-security network architectures.
Patton says the QSFX-100DD supports guidance from the US Department of Homeland Security for secure network architectures. It also says the device is designed to ensure data flows in only one direction, with “no possible return path,” to reduce the risk of hacking and data exfiltration across network boundaries.
On the link-technology side, Patton says the QSFX-100DD uses 100GBASE-LR4 and provides four independent 25 Gbps channels for unidirectional throughput up to 100 Gbps. Patton also states the module supports 100G long-haul Ethernet over single-mode fiber and can deliver data over distances up to 10 km.
Operationally, Patton says the QSFX-100DD is hot-pluggable and compliant with the Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) QSFP28 specification, targeting maintenance and upgrade workflows “without disrupting network operations.” Patton adds that the module uses a rugged brass enclosure for durability and electromagnetic interference and radio-frequency interference (EMI/RFI) containment.
Patton explicitly targets large data centers, stating that “hardware-enforced data diodes that deliver 100-Gigabit speeds address the growing need for cybersecurity in large data centers.” It also lists application environments including finance, healthcare, government, defense, telecommunications, energy, utilities, manufacturing, cloud services, education, and research.
