APR Energy grows mobile gas-turbine fleet to over 1.1 GW for near-term data center power

APR Energy has announced an expansion of its owned mobile gas-turbine generation fleet, acquiring eight turbines and increasing owned capacity from 850 MW to over 1.1 GW. The company says the added capacity targets data center developers and utilities facing grid constraints and extended interconnection timelines that delay access to permanent power.

APR Energy positions its offering as rapidly deployable, mobile power generation for mission-critical loads. It reports its mobile gas turbines can be deployed and operational within 30 to 90 days, intended to help customers advance project timelines and maintain reliability while longer-term infrastructure is developed. APR Energy also says it supplies full balance-of-plant equipment to deliver complete power generation.

The company attributes the expansion to inbound demand for large-scale power on timelines measured in months rather than years, noting that new grid capacity in many markets can take years to come online. APR Energy reports that its customer base includes one of the world’s largest AI data centers, which it cites as evidence of hyperscale demand.

“The demand we are seeing is immediate and substantial,” said Chuck Ferry, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of APR Energy. “Data centers and utilities need dependable power now. Expanding our capacity allows us to meet that demand with speed, certainty, and proven execution.”
