Hut 8 to deliver up to 2,295 MW hyperscale AI data center capacity for Anthropic

Hut 8 has announced a partnership with Anthropic and Fluidstack to develop and deliver large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) data center infrastructure in the United States. The agreement calls for Hut 8 to provide at least 245 megawatts (MW) and up to 2,295 MW of AI data center capacity, with compute clusters managed by Fluidstack for Anthropic deployments.

The partnership encompasses several tranches. The first phase will launch at Hut 8’s River Bend campus in Louisiana, delivering an initial 245 MW of IT load, backed by 330 MW of utility power. Anthropic receives a right of first offer for up to 1,000 MW of additional IT capacity at River Bend, contingent on site power expansion. Additionally, Hut 8 and Anthropic may jointly assess and develop as much as 1,050 MW of further optional capacity across Hut 8’s larger U.S. development pipeline.

The partners specifically target hyperscale, AI-ready data center requirements. This type of infrastructure is critical to supporting the intensive compute demands of advanced AI model development and deployment.

Hut 8 CEO Asher Genoot stated, “Scaling frontier AI infrastructure is, at its core, a power challenge,” noting that the company aims to integrate power, data center design, and compute into a unified platform capable of delivering at gigawatt scale.

James Bradbury, Head of Compute at Anthropic, commented, “This partnership is an expansion of our existing work with Fluidstack and marks a new opportunity to collaborate with Hut 8 to bring additional capacity online by early 2027. Hut 8’s ability to source and deliver infrastructure at scale provides the runway necessary to continue advancing the capabilities of our models.”

Gary Wu, Co-founder and CEO of Fluidstack, added, “Fluidstack was built to solve compute challenges at scale, across every level of complexity. As Anthropic pushes the frontier of AI, we’re proud to work alongside partners such as Hut 8 to design, deploy, and operate the foundational infrastructure that leading labs rely on to win.”

For further technical and investor details, Hut 8 has made available an investor presentation on its website.
