LONGWELL has introduced a biomimetic EC fan platform aimed at HVACR, data center cooling, and air-handling-unit (AHU) applications, with the company reporting 73% to 82% static efficiency and a 4 to 6 dB(A) noise reduction versus conventional fans.
The platform, branded LWBE3G, uses a backward-curved EC impeller design that LONGWELL says improves static efficiency by 5 to 8 percentage points compared with conventional designs. At equal airflow, the company reports 8% to 12% energy savings. LONGWELL also claims the design reduces high-frequency noise content by more than 50% and extends stall margin by 25% to 30%.
For data center operators and integrators, the stated combination of higher static efficiency and lower noise targets a familiar trade: moving air against higher system resistance (filters, coils, heat exchangers, and ductwork) without paying as much in fan power or acoustic headroom. But claimed percentage gains in efficiency and stall margin depend heavily on the actual duty point and installation details, so engineers will still want selection data that matches their operating envelope.
On the controls side, the EC drives integrate 0–10 V, PWM, Modbus RTU, and BACnet MS/TP. LONGWELL lists 12 protection functions and an L10 bearing life of 60,000 hours at 40°C. The company says each design is validated with in-house whole-unit CFD analysis, and that air performance testing is done to AMCA 210 / ISO 5801, with CRP registration in progress.
LONGWELL lists CE, UL 507, cUL, and ETL certifications for the platform, along with RoHS and REACH compliance. The company also cites ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and EN 50155.
For field results, LONGWELL points to a 2024 European AHU retrofit where it says an LWBE3G450-188PT-09 saved about 30% energy at 8,660 m³/h and over 2,000 Pa. It also says the LWBE3G560-188PT-01 delivered 16,039 m³/h and matched the “16,000-class” ebm-papst R3G560 for a 1:1 replacement without air chamber modifications. LONGWELL lists lead times of one to three days for samples and 15 to 30 days for production.
“When the aerodynamics are this efficient and this quiet, switching becomes an easy engineering decision,” said Bruce Li, CEO of LONGWELL.
LONGWELL designs and manufactures EC and AC fans and motors and says it exports to more than 30 countries.
