Options Technology deploys AI-optimized data center in Iceland for high-density financial workloads

Options Technology has announced an expansion of its private cloud offering with the deployment of an AI-optimized data center in Iceland, targeting high-density workloads for capital markets clients such as hedge funds, investment banks, and proprietary trading firms. The company says the new facility is designed to meet growing demand for scalable, secure AI environments without compromising on privacy, regulatory compliance, or environmental requirements.

The Iceland data center features infrastructure for high-density private AI workloads, including liquid cooling and closed-loop water systems. Powered entirely by renewable energy, Options Technology claims the site reduces per kilovolt-ampere (kVA) costs by 72 percent compared to typical US sites and allows clients to report zero carbon emissions on hosted workloads. The facility uses redundant submarine cables to deliver sub-100 millisecond connectivity to both Europe and North America.

This deployment marks the first phase of a broader infrastructure modernization strategy, according to Options Technology. The company plans to extend its network of high-density, AI-ready environments into additional financial hubs starting in 2025. Options Technology notes that this expansion addresses a market projected to reach $15.7 billion in global generative AI for financial services by 2034.

Options Technology also highlighted other recent initiatives, such as its recognition in the Broadcom/VMware Global Partner Program, the expansion of its Cambridge operations for market data services, and extension of its Microsoft Cloud Solution Partner offerings into Dubai.

“Our investment in Iceland is about more than just infrastructure; it’s about future-proofing the next generation of financial services,” said Danny Moore, President and CEO of Options Technology. “As the industry accelerates its adoption of private AI and large-scale compute, we are ensuring our clients have access to secure, scalable, and sustainable environments that align with their performance and ESG goals.”
