Penguin Solutions has announced the general availability of Oracle Linux operating system support on its Stratus ztC Endurance fault-tolerant computing platform. This integration enables deployment of Oracle Database applications, such as Oracle eBusiness Suite, with up to 99.99999 percent system reliability—translating to a maximum of 3.15 seconds of unplanned downtime or data loss per year, the company reports.
The updated platform targets high-availability requirements in enterprise data centers by supporting Oracle Linux and optimizing Oracle Database workloads. Penguin Solutions states that this configuration eliminates the need for complex server clusters. Instead, the Stratus ztC Endurance solution consolidates workloads onto a single compute platform equipped with predictive intelligence that can detect potential failures and take preventive action to maintain uptime and protect data.
Technical benefits noted by Penguin Solutions include optimized transaction performance, advanced reliability features, and native security capabilities. Oracle Linux is described as specifically architected for Oracle Database performance, supported by continuous integration with Oracle’s development iterations. Furthermore, the platform’s architecture meets Oracle’s criteria for “hard partitioning,” helping maintain data integrity and ensuring the database instance does not run across multiple compute modules simultaneously.
Dara Ambrose, vice president of products and solutions for Penguin Solutions, stated, “Combining Oracle Linux with Stratus ztC Endurance’s intelligent predictive fault tolerant architecture offers organizations a more economical solution for eliminating downtime and data loss to Oracle applications.” Ambrose further noted its relevance for industries such as energy, financial services, retail, telecommunications, and government, where application uptime is directly tied to core operations.
Stratus ztC Endurance support for Oracle Linux will be available in November 2025. Penguin Solutions is offering configuration and implementation guidance to interested organizations.
