Jacobs to provide EPCM services for Hut 8 River Bend AI data center in Louisiana

Jacobs has been selected by Hut 8 to deliver Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) services for Hut 8’s River Bend data center in Louisiana. Hut 8 reports that the facility is leased under a 15-year, $7.0 billion lease for 245 megawatts of information technology (IT) capacity, and is intended to anchor a larger planned campus.

Hut 8 says River Bend is positioned as an artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing development in North America. The company also notes that the region’s “power dense utility infrastructure” is expected to support “reliable, high-quality delivery” at the scale of the project.

Hut 8 says the initial data hall at River Bend is scheduled for completion and commissioning in Q1 2027, with additional data halls scheduled to come online over the balance of 2027.

Jacobs says this award expands its data center and computing-related work, including providing EPCM services for a confidential high-performance computing facility in the Southeastern US; delivering quantum computing programs for PsiQuantum in Chicago and Brisbane; and advancing AI-ready infrastructure through NVIDIA’s Omniverse Blueprint for AI factory digital twins. Jacobs also says it is delivering Start Campus’s SINES DC Campus in Portugal as a 1.2-gigawatt AI-scale data center “powered entirely by renewable energy and cooled with a zero-water system.”
