UNICO launches 330 kW bidirectional grid-tie inverter for data centers

UNICO has launched a 330 kW bidirectional grid-tie inverter aimed at applications that need power flow between DC resources and AC infrastructure, including data centers and energy storage systems. The rack-mounted platform is built to scale by paralleling multiple inverters, and it supports a wide span of AC and DC voltage configurations.

The UNICO Grid-Tie Inverter (GTI) is rated up to 330 kW at 900 VAC and is designed for bidirectional operation. UNICO lists 98.5% efficiency and a power density of 72 W/in3. The inverter supports AC voltages from 380 to 900 VAC and has a programmable DC voltage range of 600 to 1500 VDC.

For larger deployments, the GTI is built to run in parallel “in groups of ten or more,” which UNICO says can deliver system power levels exceeding 3.3 MW. That kind of modular scaling matters in data centers and storage plants because it lets operators grow capacity without switching to a different inverter architecture midstream, which can ripple into protection schemes, controls standards, spares, and maintenance procedures.

UNICO says the GTI is designed and manufactured entirely in the United States. Mike Canada, CEO of UNICO, framed the product around uncertainty in long-term power planning: “Determining how much power a system will require years from now can be challenging.” He added, “Our Grid-Tie Inverter solves that problem, delivering unmatched flexibility so businesses can ‘future proof’ their operations.”
