FSP Group has introduced an 850 W ATX power supply it describes as the world’s first to earn an 80 PLUS 230V Ruby certification, targeting high-density AI workstations, edge computing nodes, and data center-adjacent deployments. The company is pitching the unit around energy-efficiency and thermals, two constraints that get harder—not easier—when GPU-heavy systems are packed into smaller chassis.
The PSU is rated for 850 W output and uses a standard AC-to-ATX architecture. FSP highlights “rapid dynamic load response” and “peak-power tolerance” aimed at handling the transient spikes associated with modern high-end GPUs and accelerator cards under heavy AI workloads. (FSP doesn’t publish transient-response numbers in the material provided, so engineers will still want real test data before treating this as a design input.)
On cooling, the unit uses an 80 mm high-static-pressure fan with “smart” thermal control. In practical terms, an 80 mm fan choice is a strong signal that the product is meant for constrained enclosures where the PSU has to pull air through restrictive paths, but it also means acoustics and airflow-vs-pressure tuning become more critical at sustained high load.
FSP ties the product to EU energy requirements, calling out EU ErP Lot 9 and stating the Ruby certification exceeds Titanium efficiency levels under 230 V input conditions. The company also says the PSU is aligned with EU Ecodesign directives for next-generation data center power architectures and frames the expected operational upside as lower heat dissipation losses, reduced cooling overhead, and improved PUE.
“By maximizing conversion efficiency under 230V input conditions, FSP became the first to secure the prestigious 80 PLUS 230V Ruby certification,” the company said. FSP also positions the PSU as part of a broader push to work with AI chipmakers and system integrators on power architecture, thermal simulation, and compliance for high-density platforms.
FSP Group did not share pricing or an on-sale date in the material provided.
