Rackspace Technology has announced it will serve as the strategic IT infrastructure provider for Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin. Under this agreement, Rackspace will host and manage Dell Med’s healthcare data center operations, including deployment and management of its Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform and related workloads. Rackspace reports that this initiative supports Dell Med’s digital transformation as it establishes itself as the anchor of a new academic medical center in Central Texas.
Michael Ryan, CIO and Chief Administrative Officer at Dell Med, stated, “Partnering with Rackspace for our hosted data center needs is crucial to our continued success, and the Epic deployment will be one of the first big steps in our joint journey forward,” said Ryan. “The Rackspace team will not only provide primary hosting for our Epic deployment and other application workloads but also a fully managed service model that ensures a seamless transition and operational excellence.”
Looking to future expansion, Dell Med plans to operate without a traditional physical data center. Rackspace will continue to host and manage key digital infrastructure, including Epic and other clinical workloads, through secure and compliant cloud services that incorporate redundancy. Rackspace claims these services are designed to meet patient safety, regulatory compliance, and system resilience needs for Dell Med’s mission.
