AFL launches Fujikura 100S fusion splicer and CT60 cleaver for faster data center fiber splicing

AFL has announced the launch of the Fujikura 100S Fusion Splicer and CT60 Fiber Cleaver. AFL says the tools target higher technician productivity by automating manual adjustments and reducing splicing preparation time by up to 30%, while eliminating common alignment errors.

The Fujikura 100S is a core-alignment fusion splicer that adds dual-fiber support, allowing technicians to prep and load two fibers simultaneously. It also includes Splice Coach, a built-in virtual mentor that provides real-time feedback on splicing techniques. AFL says the 100S includes built-in GPS tracking and location-based locking to help keep the splicer secure and traceable.

The CT60 Fiber Cleaver adds automated blade management via an enhanced Auto Blade Adjustment system with 28 positions for finer control. AFL says its ergonomic design supports one-handed operation, and its Bluetooth connectivity enables integration with compatible Fujikura splicers.

“Today’s fiber deployments require technicians to work faster without compromising splice quality,” said Megha Garlapati, Product Line Manager at AFL. “The 100S and CT60 are the only splicers on the market with this level of intelligent automation. By automating manual adjustments, these tools let technicians focus on the splice, not the setup.”

AFL notes that Fujikura’s yellow transit cases are commonly used in data centers, as well as in trenches and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) installations. AFL also states it is the distributor of Fujikura splicers in North America and provides 24/7 availability, expert repair technicians, same-day turnaround, and an inventory of parts and consumables.
