Danfoss Climate Solutions has started a new production line at its Monterrey, Mexico factory to assemble oil-free check (OFC) valves used with Danfoss Turbocor oil-free compressors. For North American OEMs building chillers and heat pumps, the practical impact is straightforward: a shorter supply chain for a component that sits directly in the compressor discharge path.
The Monterrey line will ultimately build 12 OFC valve models. Danfoss lists 3 1/8 in and 4 1/8 in options, with steel or solder flange configurations, with or without ball valves, and in regular or compact sizes. Danfoss also said the production scope expands following a 2025 extension of the product range, with additional models intended to fit different application requirements.
Danfoss said assembling the OFC valves in North America is intended to increase supply chain resiliency for North America OEM customers using Turbocor compressors. The company also said customers should see reduced lead times while maintaining the same level of quality, and it noted “gradual USMCA approval.”
The Monterrey move builds on capacity added when the expanded factory opened a year ago. Danfoss said it has used that doubled capacity to start production of scroll compressors, BOCK compressors, sensors, and microchannel heat exchangers, with the stated goal of meeting demand and supporting OEM customers’ supply chains.
From a data center engineering standpoint, the OFC valve details are most relevant when operators and OEMs are pushing for oil-free architectures in chilled-water plants and heat pump systems. Any component that reduces pressure drop on the discharge side can translate into measurable compressor efficiency gains in the real world, but only if it holds up across the operating envelope and controls strategy actually used in the field.
Danfoss describes the OFC valve as combining a ball valve style shut-off and a check valve. The company said it improves Turbocor-based applications by reducing discharge pressure drop while increasing capacity and efficiency. Danfoss also lists an integrated stop function, a damped check valve function, an integrated diffuser elbow, and an integrated staging port.
