Celestica launches DS6005 102.4Tbps CPO liquid-cooled AI switch

Celestica has introduced the DS6005, a co-packaged optics (CPO) data center switch built for AI fabrics and designed for OCP ORv3 deployments. The system pairs a 102.4 Tbps-class switch ASIC with liquid cooling in a 1.5 OU form factor, targeting higher bandwidth density and lower power than traditional front-panel pluggable-optics designs.

The DS6005 is built on the Broadcom Tomahawk 6–Davisson switch chip and is rated for up to 102.4 Tbps of switching capacity. Celestica lists a port configuration of 64 x 1.6 TbE (102.4T capacity). The key architectural move is CPO: optical engines are integrated directly onto the switch ASIC, eliminating the need for traditional front-panel pluggable optics.

Celestica describes the platform as fully liquid-cooled and sized specifically for OCP ORv3 racks, with the company pointing to temperature stability, reliability, and increased overall rack density as design goals. The DS6005 also includes field-replaceable external laser modules and “CPO-aware software management,” along with SONiC support.

For operators building high-radix, high-bandwidth AI fabrics, optics power and thermal headroom are increasingly part of the switching design problem, not just the cabling choice. Co-packaging optics changes serviceability and failure domains compared with pluggables, so details like external laser modules and software management matter as much as raw throughput when you’re thinking about day-two operations.

“The DS6005 brings co-packaged optics, liquid cooling, field-replaceable external laser modules, and CPO-aware software management together in a compact platform designed to help customers build scalable and power-efficient AI fabrics,” said Gavin Cato, SVP and GM, Portfolio Solutions and AI Platform Engineering at Celestica.

Broadcom’s Manish Mehta, Vice President of Marketing and Operations, Optical Systems Division, called the system “production-ready” and said, “By combining Broadcom’s Tomahawk 6–Davisson platform and optical expertise with Celestica’s system engineering and platform execution, the DS6005 demonstrates how our partnership is helping bring CPO to market for AI networking.”
