NuScale, ENTRA1 Energy to advance small modular reactor deployments for US data centers and industry

NuScale Power has announced that its exclusive global partner, ENTRA1 Energy, is positioned to receive up to $25 billion in investment as part of the new $550 billion United States–Japan Framework Agreement. According to NuScale, this investment is intended to support large-scale buildout of advanced small modular reactor (SMR) nuclear power across critical US energy infrastructure, including applications in data centers and manufacturing sectors.

The United States–Japan Framework Agreement, announced following meetings between US and Japanese government leaders in Tokyo in October 2025, is set to mobilize up to $550 billion in public- and private-sector investment for energy infrastructure expansion and supply chain strengthening. ENTRA1 Energy’s program under this framework aims to deploy SMR-powered baseload plants to meet rising energy demands in AI data centers, manufacturing facilities, and national defense, while supporting job creation and energy resilience in the United States.

NuScale’s SMR technology, which received US Nuclear Regulatory Commission design certification, is based on a pressurized water reactor design capable of delivering 77 megawatts of electricity or 250 megawatts thermal per module. Up to 12 modules can be configured for a total of 924 megawatts electric output. The technology is targeted for electrical generation and is being positioned by NuScale as a fit for data centers, district heating, desalination, commercial-scale hydrogen production, and other process heat applications.

ENTRA1 Energy holds exclusive global rights for NuScale SMR commercialization and deployment. The two companies have established a 50–50 joint venture, ENTRA1 NuScale LLC, to streamline development, financing, and operation of ENTRA1 Energy Plants utilizing NuScale SMRs. ENTRA1 recently signed an agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority to develop up to six gigawatts of new baseload capacity using NuScale’s technology.
