Penguin Solutions gets CXL 2.0 compliance for SMART Modular E3.S 2 TB persistent memory module

Penguin Solutions has announced that its SMART Modular CXL NV-CMM E3.S 2T non-volatile memory module has passed Compute Express Link (CXL) compliance testing and is now listed on the CXL Consortium Integrators List. The company says the milestone confirms interoperability against CXL standards for CXL-based memory and storage expansion use cases.

According to Penguin Solutions, the CXL NV-CMM E3.S 2T module uses the CXL 2.0 standard and is designed to provide low-latency, high-bandwidth persistent storage with enterprise-class reliability, availability, and serviceability (RAS) features. The company says it is intended to accelerate system performance through checkpointing and caching for in-memory databases, and to support quick data recovery after power loss or system crashes.

“We are proud to have our SMART CXL NV-CMM E3.S 2T memory module recognized for its compliance with CXL standards,” said Andy Mills, VP Advanced Product Development for Integrated Memory at Penguin Solutions. “This achievement underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality, interoperable memory solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

Penguin Solutions lists data center uses including high-performance computing, computational storage, and network acceleration. It also positions the module for accelerated artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads by enabling fast access to large datasets, and for high-performance computing environments that require low latency and high bandwidth for simulations and data analytics.

The company also describes the module as a persistent memory option for “storage essentials,” targeting data integrity and availability in critical systems. Penguin Solutions adds that inclusion on the CXL Consortium’s Integrators List reflects its focus on interoperability across its SMART Modular memory portfolio.
