Boyd launches 2 megawatt coolant distribution unit to boost liquid cooling in AI data centers

Boyd has announced the release of the ROL4000-48U65, a liquid-to-liquid, in-row coolant distribution unit (CDU) designed for high-density data center applications. This 2 megawatt CDU targets the liquid cooling needs of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, colocation providers, and hyperscale operators, supporting the latest generation of high-performance processors.

According to Boyd, the ROL4000 delivers 2 megawatts of cooling capacity at a 3 °C approach temperature and supplies up to 80 PSI of available pressure, suitable for next-generation technology cooling system (TCS) loops. The unit features seal-less N+1 pumps, fully redundant power feeds for each pump circuit, and 0.2 micron side stream filtration to maximize uptime, reduce maintenance, and extend product lifetimes.

The technology draws inspiration from Google’s fifth-generation Project Deschutes CDU. Boyd reports that the ROL4000 is engineered for efficient, high-density liquid cooling deployments in AI-driven and performance-intensive data center environments.

“Boyd’s ROL4000 CDU will accelerate liquid cooled data center deployment,” said Jerry Toth, Boyd Chief Technology Officer. “We’re enabling our hyperscaler, colocation, and enterprise datacenter customers to quickly scale liquid cooling, accelerate time to market, and compete in this AI era.”

Boyd says the ROL4000 combines performance and serviceability, and is backed by its global deployment and service team. The company manufactures the ROL4000 across facilities in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific, providing regional availability to minimize logistics and time-to-market for data center customers.
