Siemon launches 200G-800G PAM4 optical transceivers for data centers

Siemon has added 200G, 400G, and 800G PAM4 optical transceivers to its data center connectivity portfolio, targeting higher-speed Ethernet and InfiniBand links used in AI, high-performance computing, and next-generation data center networks.

The new transceivers span 200G to 800G applications and come in industry-standard OSFP and QSFP-DD form factors. Siemon lists options for both multimode and singlemode deployments, and says the modules are designed for standards-based performance across Ethernet and InfiniBand fabrics. The company also positions the transceivers to integrate with its existing fiber cabling and connectivity lineup, including MPO connectivity and structured cabling.

For operators, the practical question is less about “supporting AI” in general and more about day-to-day optics selection and sparing: as link rates climb, the tolerance for mismatched optics, cabling, and connector performance drops fast. A transceiver line that’s intended to pair with a vendor’s specific fiber and MPO ecosystem can simplify qualification, but only if it behaves predictably in multi-vendor environments where most data centers actually live.

Siemon says the transceivers are independently verified for interoperability and tested to ensure “error free operation.” It also describes a “low pre-FEC BER design” intended to deliver reliable post-FEC operation “beyond industry standards.” Ryan Harris, Director, Systems Engineering at Siemon, said, “By combining our transceiver portfolio with Siemon’s proven fiber cabling and connectivity solutions, we’re enabling customers to deploy high-performance networks with greater flexibility, serviceability, and long-term reliability.” More details are posted at siemon.com/highspeed.
