Empyrion Digital selects Nokia switches for Gangnam data center network

Nokia has announced that Empyrion Digital will deploy its data center gateway and aggregation switches at the new Gangnam Data Center in Seoul, Korea. Nokia reports that this partnership will enable Empyrion Digital, which develops and operates data centers across key Asian cities for hyperscale and colocation customers, to upgrade its data center network infrastructure in multiple countries.

Nokia’s solution includes the 7250 Interconnect Router (IXR) for data center gateways and core network switches, as well as the 7210 Service Access System (SAS) for IT system access switches. Nokia says these systems provide improved reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency for data center interconnect networks.

Empyrion Digital targets high-volume data traffic environments characteristic of hyperscale and enterprise data center operators. Nokia cites its strong regional presence and supply chain as factors that will streamline deployment for Empyrion Digital throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Nokia states that the 7250 IXR and 7210 SAS are built to address requirements for automation-ready, energy-efficient networks, and that the solution will allow Empyrion Digital to manage growing regional data traffic efficiently.

“Nokia’s state-of-the-art Data Center Fabric solution will enable Empyrion Digital to better manage the growing data traffic demands while delivering high network performance,” said Kent Wong, Vice President and Head of IP Networks for Asia Pacific at Nokia. “Our field-proven solutions are helping digital infrastructure providers across the Asia Pacific region to benefit from improved scalability and reliability while making the networks more energy efficient.”
