Advanced Energy adds single-whip AC input option to 33 kW ORv3 power shelf

Advanced Energy has added a single-whip AC input option for its 33 kW ORv3 High-Power Rack (HPR) power shelf, giving rack designers a one-AC-feed-per-shelf connection choice with left- and right-side input configurations for different rack layouts. The update targets high-density builds where multiple shelves are run in parallel to reach 100 kW or more per rack for AI data center and high-performance computing deployments.

The ORv3 HPR power shelf fits six 5.5 kW power supply modules in a one Open Rack Unit (1OU) form factor. With all six modules installed, the shelf delivers 33 kW without redundancy, or 27.5 kW with N+1 power-module redundancy. The power modules are hot-swappable.

The new single-whip option is about physical integration as much as electrical capacity: AC feed location drives cable routing, clearances, and serviceability inside a crowded rack. Having separate left- and right-side input configurations gives engineers another knob to reduce awkward cable runs and align the shelf’s connection point with a site’s preferred AC distribution approach.

Advanced Energy also says multiple shelves can operate in parallel to support racks requiring 100 kW or more. Monitoring and control options include an Ethernet-based controller compatible with DMTF Redfish.

“The position of the AC feed affects cable routing and rack layout. Offering engineers a choice of input location enables them to account for these design constraints in their system design work,” said Conor Quinn, Vice President, Marketing, High Volume Products, Advanced Energy.

Advanced Energy shared additional product details for the ORv3 HPR Power Shelf online.
