The Apache Software Foundation has announced that Apache DevLake and Apache Grails have become Top-Level Projects. This designation acknowledges each project’s technical maturity, community support, and permanence within the Apache ecosystem.
Apache DevLake is an open source development data platform that can ingest, analyze, and visualize data from fragmented DevOps tools. Initially released in December 2021, DevLake helps software teams organize, query, and interpret DevOps data to generate actionable insights. While broader applications may exist, its capabilities for data ingestion, analytics, and visualization may support observability and analytics initiatives in data center technology environments.
Apache Grails is a web application framework based on Apache Groovy for the Java Virtual Machine. Built on the Spring Boot stack, Grails was first launched two decades ago and has received new community-driven updates and enhancements during its recent incubation at the foundation.
The foundation’s incubation process offers mentorship and services to help projects adopt community and governance best practices under the foundation’s model.
“Becoming an ASF Top-Level Project signals the beginning of a new chapter for Apache Grails,” said James Fredley, Apache Grails PMC Chair. “With ASF’s support and a thriving contributor community, we look forward to broadening adoption and advancing the project’s capabilities.”
