iPronics raises $125M to commercialize optical circuit switching for AI data centers

iPronics has raised $125 million in Series B funding to scale its programmable optical networking products for AI data centers. The round was co-led by Maverick Silicon and Light Street Capital, with NVIDIA joining and additional participation from Triatomic Capital, Bosch Ventures, Catalight Capital, European Innovation Council Fund, The Tate Family Trust, Fine Structure Ventures, Amadeus Capital Partners, Build Collective, and Criteria Venture Tech.

The Series B brings iPronics’ total funding to $177 million. Christian Dupont, CEO of iPronics, said the company plans to use the capital to “accelerate our commercialization,” aiming to deliver the scale customers need for broader adoption and to help data centers “fully utilize their GPUs without compromising performance.”

The funding is tied to iPronics’ work on optical circuit switching (OCS) built on silicon photonics, targeting high-density connectivity needs in AI infrastructure. iPronics describes its platform as a compact, purpose-built OCS approach intended to help hyperscalers expand AI capacity while managing cost, power, and complexity.

The company’s named product is the iPronics Optical Networking Engine (ONE), a rack-mounted optical switch built for AI. iPronics says ONE includes integrated control, telemetry, and APIs, and is designed to provide a programmable optical layer so AI clusters can reconfigure connectivity in real time for training and inference workloads.

Optical circuit switching is one of several approaches operators are evaluating for AI fabrics because it can change connectivity without relying on packet switching behavior for every traffic pattern. But the practical question in the field is less about buzzwords and more about operations: how predictable the control plane is, how well telemetry integrates with existing tooling, and what reconfiguration looks like during real workloads.

As part of the financing, Manish Muthal, senior managing director at Maverick Silicon, is joining iPronics’ board of directors, along with Geoffrey Tate, an advisor to Light Street Capital. Young Sohn of Catalight Capital becomes an advisor to the company.

iPronics also opened an office in Santa Clara, California, to expand its US presence. The company said it is actively hiring across product strategy, customer deployments, and AI infrastructure partnerships, with roles listed at ipronics.com/careers.
