ScaleFlux to sample PCIe Gen6 SSD and CXL memory controllers in Q4 2026

ScaleFlux is rolling out two PCIe Gen6 controller designs aimed at next-generation SSDs and CXL memory expansion: the FC6116 PCIe Gen6 NVMe SSD controller and the MC600 PCIe Gen6 CXL 3.2 Type 3 memory controller. Both are targeted at AI, hyperscale cloud, and enterprise infrastructure where bandwidth, power, and security features increasingly drive platform qualification.

The FC6116 supports PCIe Gen6 x4 and dual-port 2×2 configurations. ScaleFlux lists performance targets of up to 28 GB/s sequential reads, up to 25 GB/s sequential writes, up to 7 million 4 KB random read IOPS, and more than 1 million sustained 4 KB random write IOPS, with less than 9 W active controller power. The controller supports TLC, QLC, and SLC NAND, with capacities up to 256 TB, and it enables “all major EDSFF form factors,” including E1.S/L, E3.S/L, and U.2/3. ScaleFlux also highlights a turnkey Arm-based firmware platform intended to speed product development and customization.

On the security and compliance side, FC6116 includes PCIe Integrity and Data Encryption (IDE), OCP Caliptra 2.0 compliance, CNSA 2.0 post-quantum cryptography, S.A.F.E. security framework support, firmware attestation, and TCG Opal 2.0. Reliability features called out include full power-loss protection, end-to-end data path protection, advanced LDPC error correction, and compliance with the OCP Datacenter NVMe SSD Specification.

The MC600 is a PCIe Gen6 CXL 3.2 Type 3 memory controller built on a PCIe Gen6 physical layer. ScaleFlux specifies less than 9 W typical power in a PCIe Gen6 x8 configuration, with the goal of enabling memory expansion and pooling without materially raising power and cooling overhead. MC600 integrates a quad-channel DDR5 (40-bit) controller with 2DPC support, a dual-channel DDR4 (72-bit) controller with 2DPC support, RDIMM and UDIMM compatibility, and support for up to 2 TB of DDR5 memory. ScaleFlux’s differentiator claim here is native support for both DDR4 and DDR5 on a single controller.

For data center engineers, the blunt reality is that Gen6-era storage and CXL expansion only matter if they hit performance-per-watt targets while staying inside increasingly strict security baselines. The combination of sub-9 W controller power targets and built-in features like IDE and Caliptra alignment is designed to reduce friction during platform qualification, especially as operators try to scale AI fleets without letting power and thermal budgets run away.

Hao Zhong, CEO and co-founder of ScaleFlux, said, “AI infrastructure is driving unprecedented demand for higher bandwidth, greater memory capacity, and lower power consumption.” FC6116 and MC600 are both slated to begin sampling with key customers in Q4 2026.
