Spirent and Telescent integrate optical switching with automation for data center labs

Spirent Communications has announced a new partnership with Telescent to integrate Telescent’s optical circuit switch and automated patch panel solutions with Spirent’s Velocity test lab automation portfolio. Spirent reports that this integration is designed to improve operational efficiency, resiliency, and resource connectivity for artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) deployments, particularly in data centers and test labs.

The collaboration includes Telescent’s robotic fiber optic cross-connect systems, which enable fully automated and remote provisioning of fiber connections. According to Spirent, this reduces reliance on manual patch panel operations, decreases the risk of human error, and supports rapid reconfiguration demands common to AI/ML workloads and data center environments.

The partnership designates Spirent as the exclusive worldwide value-added reseller for Telescent’s physical layer automation technology in lab automation. Spirent has stated that customers will be able to access these solutions through its global sales channels, supported by comprehensive service and integration with the Velocity Test Automation Portfolio. The companies highlight applications spanning enterprise network test labs, AI/ML laboratories, data centers, and equipment validation facilities.

“Our partnership with Telescent represents another great example of how Spirent is bringing innovation to automated test solutions to help companies ensure reliability, security, and performance in their operational networks,” said Anil Kollipara, VP of Product Management at Spirent. “Furthermore, by integrating Telescent’s advanced optical switching technology with the proven test automation capabilities of our Velocity portfolio, we’re delivering a solution that will transform how organizations approach lab automation and AI/ML resource optimization.”

Anthony Kewitsch, CEO of Telescent, added: “Partnering with Spirent represents a significant milestone in expanding the reach of our automated fiber management solutions,” said Anthony Kewitsch, CEO of Telescent. “Spirent’s extensive global presence and deep industry relationships will accelerate adoption of our technology across markets worldwide. Together, we’re enabling the next generation of network automation and flexibility.”
