Siemon launches 200G-800G PAM4 optical transceivers for data centers

Siemon has launched a portfolio of 200G, 400G, and 800G PAM4 optical transceivers, adding pluggable optics to its end-to-end data center connectivity lineup. The company is pitching the transceivers at AI, high-performance computing, and next-generation data center networks where link speeds, port density, and power efficiency targets are pushing operators toward higher-rate optical interfaces.

The portfolio spans 200G to 800G applications and uses industry-standard pluggable form factors, including OSFP and QSFP-DD. Siemon says the transceivers are available in both multimode and singlemode configurations, and are intended to support both Ethernet and InfiniBand environments.

On validation and multi-vendor deployment, Siemon says the transceivers are designed for a low pre-FEC BER (bit error rate) and are tested to ensure error-free post-FEC operation. The company also says the modules are independently verified for interoperability, a practical requirement in mixed-optics environments where operators need predictable bring-up behavior and fewer surprises during scale-outs and swap-outs.

Siemon is also tying the optics directly to its existing fiber ecosystem, saying the modules are optimized to pair with its multimode or singlemode fiber, MPO connectivity, and structured cabling solutions. And while fixed cable assemblies can be attractive for simplicity, Siemon is calling out modular, transceiver-based architectures for serviceability, which is often the deciding factor when failures and change windows collide with dense switch front panels.

“High-speed optical transceivers play a critical role in modern data center design, particularly as AI workloads drive unprecedented bandwidth and scalability requirements,” said Ryan Harris, Director, Systems Engineering at Siemon. “By combining our transceiver portfolio with Siemon’s proven fiber cabling and connectivity solutions, we’re enabling customers to deploy high-performance networks with greater flexibility, serviceability, and long-term reliability.”
