Vertiv acquisition adds ThermoKey dry coolers and heat exchangers for AI data centers

Vertiv has completed its acquisition of ThermoKey, adding heat rejection and heat-exchange products aimed at AI data centers and other high-density facilities. The deal brings ThermoKey’s OEM and system integrator relationships into Vertiv’s thermal business and expands Vertiv’s manufacturing footprint, particularly across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

ThermoKey’s portfolio includes heat-exchange solutions, dry coolers, and support for low-GWP and natural refrigerants. Vertiv said it already uses ThermoKey technology in select thermal solutions, and it plans to incorporate the added heat rejection capability to deliver “system-level solutions across the full thermal chain” for AI factories and high-density data centers.

For data center engineers, heat rejection is often the hard constraint when GPU clusters push facility heat loads up and leave little margin for high ambient temperatures or limited water availability. Expanding the top end of the thermal chain—how heat is rejected to air or other sinks—can be just as consequential as what happens inside the white space, because it influences CDU selection, approach temperatures, and how much capacity you can add before the site hits a thermal ceiling.

ThermoKey was founded in 1991 and brings more than 30 years of engineering experience, along with in-house design and production. Its operations in Rivarotta, Italy, will remain a key hub for manufacturing, engineering, and support. Giuseppe Visentini will continue to lead ThermoKey within Vertiv.
