Nebius launches asset-light AI cloud model for partner data centers

Nebius has introduced an “asset-light” infrastructure partnership model that allows third-party operators to deploy Nebius’s full-stack AI cloud platform inside their own AI data centers, then route the resulting capacity to market through Nebius’s global sales organization. The goal is to add AI cloud capacity for Nebius customers by tapping partner-owned sites and hardware.

In this model, partners finance and own the infrastructure and hardware, and operate the data centers. Nebius provides its systems architecture and supply-chain access, and deploys and maintains its hardware design plus its software-and-services stack on top of the partner infrastructure. Nebius then sells that capacity to customers as part of its overall capacity pool.

Nebius says partner sites will join the same capacity pool as compute coming online from Nebius-owned data centers and colocations. Under the operating split described, Nebius remains responsible for the cloud software and service levels, while the partner manages the facility and hardware. Nebius also says it will equip partner teams to run the site, and that customers will receive the same standard of service whether workloads run on Nebius infrastructure or a partner site.

For data center operators and infrastructure investors, this structure is essentially a build-and-operate model with a predefined cloud software stack and go-to-market channel already attached. But the practical engineering implications hinge on how tightly “Nebius standards” are specified and enforced across facility design, hardware configuration, and operations, because consistency is what makes multi-site capacity behave like one cloud.

Arkady Volozh, founder and CEO of Nebius, said: “Our new asset-light model gives infrastructure partners a flexible way to benefit from the explosive growth of AI. Our software allows partners to reach a much wider customer base with much better margins than conventional wholesale bare-metal contracts.”

Nebius expects to use multiple economic structures under the partnership model, including revenue-sharing agreements, licensing fees, commissions, and committed capacity arrangements that provide Nebius access to compute to sell to customers. The company said it has already entered into initial arrangements under the model. Prospective partners can find more details at nebius.com/infrastructure-partners.
