Energy supply deal targets 600 MW powered land data center campus in Texas

Hedgehog USA has signed a long-term energy supply agreement with Idemitsu to support planned powered-land data center campus developments in Navarro County, Texas. Hedgehog says the campus is intended to support up to 600 MW of data center capacity by the end of 2027.

The agreement is aimed at providing a pathway to reliable, scalable power for Hedgehog’s initial portfolio of powered-land sites, with the goal of accelerating development timelines for hyperscale and enterprise users. Hedgehog also says the site has dual pipelines on the property and that the deal enables a “full commitment” to firm gas transport earlier in the project cycle.

For data center engineers and project teams, the practical point is simple: schedule risk often collapses onto interconnect and fuel logistics. If a powered-land developer can secure firm transportation capacity and align it with behind-the-meter generation plans before tenants commit, that can reduce uncertainty in early-stage site selection and campus phasing. But it also raises the bar on execution, because the gas supply, transport, and generation plan becomes foundational to the entire delivery timeline.

“Securing power is increasingly the gating factor in data center development,” said Jeff Barber, CEO of Hedgehog. John Happ, Chief Commercial Officer & SVP: Gas & Power Trading at Idemitsu, said Idemitsu views partnering “for pipeline infrastructure and firm transportation capacity” as essential to making a development “truly shovel-ready,” including investing in pipeline capacity and related infrastructure ahead of the commercial operation date (COD).

Marathon Capital will continue as exclusive financial advisor for the sale of 100% of the project and will provide strategic guidance on development and commercialization.
