Ribbon Apollo DWDM and DCI connect JLM data centers Indonesia–Singapore

Ribbon Communications said PT Jala Lintas Media (JLM) is using Ribbon’s optical and Data Center Interconnect (DCI) gear for a greenfield DWDM network deployment linking Indonesia and Singapore. JLM is also using Ribbon’s DCI solution to provide scalable, high-capacity connectivity aimed at cloud and AI workloads, with the work described as the first phase of a broader network expansion supported by PT Mahavira System Integra.

The deployment uses Ribbon’s Apollo 9608 modular optical networking platform for metro, core, and DCI applications. Ribbon describes the Apollo 9608 as part of its DCI solution, emphasizing scalability, high-density performance, and low power consumption for network expansion.

For data center operators, the practical takeaway is that this is a subsea and metro capacity buildout tied directly to DCI requirements, not just long-haul transport. If JLM is expanding DCI between Indonesia and Singapore to meet cloud and AI traffic, optical platform choices that reduce footprint and power draw can matter as much as raw wavelength capacity—especially when space and power constraints show up at the data center edge of the network.

“Their solution was the most technically advanced we evaluated, while also delivering a smaller footprint, reduced power consumption, and the fastest delivery, implementation, testing, and integration process,” said Victor Irianto, Founder and President Commissioner of JLM. Ribbon’s Mickey Wilf, Head of ASEAN Sales, tied the deployment to execution speed, saying extended deployment lead times “can impact revenue opportunities, service delivery and customer satisfaction.”
