RS has added a range of Omron Automation industrial control panel components aimed at high-density AI data centers, edge AI deployments, and IIoT environments, spanning switch-mode power supplies, motor condition monitoring devices, and liquid leakage sensor amplifiers. The common theme is control-panel-level reliability work: stable DC power, earlier warning on rotating equipment issues, and faster detection of leaks around liquid-cooled infrastructure.
On the power side, RS is carrying Omron Automation switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) that convert incoming AC to regulated DC for downstream control gear such as PLCs and relays. Omron’s panel platform is built around its Value Design for Panel concept, including unified component dimensions, zero-clearance side-by-side mounting, and Push-in Plus wiring terminals. Omron states the approach can deliver up to 50% cabinet space savings and reduce wiring labor by about 60% while improving internal airflow.
Within Omron’s S8VK SMPS family, the lineup includes the S8VK-G single-phase supplies, described as 13% smaller than comparable SMPS, rated from -40 °C to +70 °C, and designed for durability, vibration resistance, and high mean time between failures (MTBF). The S8VK-X models add monitoring for voltage, current draw, peak current, and estimated remaining service life, and they output diagnostic data via EtherNet/IP for continuous visibility. For three-phase cabinets, the S8VK-WA and S8VK-WB cover 200–240 VAC and 380–480 VAC input ranges, respectively, and automatically maintain three-phase load balance without manual adjustment. They also use Push-in Plus terminals, coated PCBs, and visual status indicators intended to support uptime.
RS is also offering Omron motor condition monitoring devices designed for continuous monitoring of vibration, temperature, current draw, and insulation degradation without structural changes or line stoppages. In data centers, that maps cleanly to the rotating assets that are hard to take down for testing, including pumps, fans, and compressors. Omron’s K6CM devices include K6CM-CI2M current monitoring models that use current transformers to measure current waveforms and load fluctuations to identify abnormalities such as rotor degradation, pump cavitation, and driven-load friction; K6CM-VBM vibration and temperature models that use surface-mounted sensors to assess bearing health and displacement; and K6CM-ISM insulation resistance models that track insulation degradation and ground leakage currents while the motor is running.
For liquid-cooled environments, RS is carrying Omron’s K7L liquid leakage sensor amplifiers for detecting conductive fluids. The K7L-AT units include standard models with four adjustable sensing ranges and versions supporting wiring runs up to 400 m, using AC detection plus an integrated noise canceller circuit intended to prevent electrode corrosion and improve detection stability. The K7L-B models are built around Value Design for Panel sizing and can be paired with Push-in Plus technology sockets; certain models include sensor disconnection detection.
Control-panel component choices rarely make headlines, but they can be the difference between graceful degradation and a cascading failure when racks get denser and liquid loops move closer to electronics. The practical question for operators is less about any single feature and more about whether these devices integrate cleanly into existing panel standards, spares strategies, and maintenance workflows.
