Coherent launches CHR1074 224Gbps quad TIA for faster, lower-power data center optical transceivers

Coherent has announced the CHR1074, a 224 Gbps quad-channel transimpedance amplifier (TIA) designed for 800G and 1.6T optical transceivers used in AI and cloud data center infrastructure. Coherent says the device targets increasingly dynamic data center networks by combining ultra-fast link recovery with power-management features intended to reduce latency and improve efficiency.

Coherent says the CHR1074 is built for environments adopting burst-mode traffic and advanced power-saving states, where links may frequently transition between idle and active operation. The company notes that conventional TIAs can add delays during these transitions. Coherent says the CHR1074 uses a fast-settling architecture that restores full performance within 50 nanoseconds after a link state change.

For signal and power characteristics, Coherent reports the CHR1074 delivers high signal integrity, low noise, and optimized power consumption in a compact form factor. The company positions the device for system designers scaling bandwidth while maintaining energy efficiency in high-speed optical interconnects.

Samples of the CHR1074 are available now, and Coherent says general availability is expected to begin at the end of next quarter. Coherent also says it will show the CHR1074 at OFC 2026 at Booth 1401, alongside what it describes as an expanding portfolio of high-speed optical interconnect solutions.
