EdgeSites uses existing buildings to deploy 1 MW immersion-cooled AI compute

Infinium Edge has launched EdgeSites, a program built around deploying AI compute into existing commercial and industrial facilities instead of new data center construction. The model centers on factory-built, modular immersion-cooled units intended to be installed in already powered buildings, with deployment timelines measured in months and no need for a new grid interconnection.

EdgeSites uses Infinium Edge’s Edge Thermal Vectoring single-phase immersion cooling platform. The company says the approach avoids municipal water connections, relying on a dry-cooler loop, and is designed for high-density GPU deployments in buildings that weren’t originally built as data centers.

The core building block is the Vector ONE system, a factory-built, self-contained immersion cooling unit designed to house 1 MW of AI compute capacity. Infinium Edge describes Vector ONE as pre-integrated and “fully commissioned” on delivery, for deployment indoors or outdoors at standard commercial and industrial sites. The company also says installations can be scaled by adding units as site power and demand allow, without rebuilding underlying infrastructure, and that the units can occupy up to 70% less floor space than air-cooled equivalents.

For a referenced Vector ONE deployment in West Sacramento, California, Infinium Edge lists an average PUE of 1.05, support for up to 250 kW per rack, and a footprint of 150–250 sq ft per MW of deployed capacity for tanks.

There’s a practical engineering point here: if the power is already contracted and physically available behind the meter, a modular “drop-in” compute block can shift the schedule risk away from utility interconnection queues. But the real gating items will still be site-specific—how much spare capacity exists, whether distribution gear can support sustained high load, and what constraints an industrial building imposes on safety, access, and operations.

Infinium Edge says multiple Vector ONE units can be deployed in tandem for up to 10 MW at a single site. The company is also recruiting host locations and compute partners, offering property owners lease income while Infinium Edge manages site development and operations, with no capital investment or operational responsibility required from the host. For customers buying capacity, Infinium Edge says it offers agreements priced by the kilowatt-month, with backup power included in the capacity fee.

“The data center industry has been answering an infrastructure shortage with a construction playbook—build new facilities, secure new grid connections, wait years for capacity to come online,” said Robert Schuetzle, CEO of Infinium. “That model cannot keep pace with AI deployment timelines. Infinium EdgeSites operate around different premises: the power already exists, the buildings already exist, and the technology now exists to put them to work. We are making operational what the industry has been treating as stranded.”
