Keysight introduces new oscilloscopes for 1.6T optical transceiver testing in data center AI networks

Keysight Technologies has announced two new Digital Communications Analyzer-Module (DCA-M) sampling oscilloscopes designed specifically for 1.6T optical transceiver testing for next-generation data center AI clusters. The new instruments, available in single optical channel and dual optical channel configurations, feature high optical measurement sensitivity, integrated clock recovery supporting baud rates up to 120 GBaud, and measurement capabilities of up to 240 Gbps per lane.

These oscilloscopes provide high-speed optical analysis for research and development as well as manufacturing testing, delivering less than 15 µW optical channel noise and intrinsic time-based jitter below 90 femtoseconds. This ensures accurate characterization of signal integrity under challenging signal conditions encountered with 1.6T optical transceivers.

Integrated clock recovery within the DCA-M devices, operating up to 120 GBaud, eliminates the complexity and additional configuration needed for external clocking solutions, simplifying test setups and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Keysight’s FlexOTO Optical Test Optimization software integrates directly with these oscilloscopes, streamlining test system automation, maximizing measurement efficiency, and increasing throughput. Built on the established FlexDCA measurement science platform, FlexOTO lowers the overall cost-of-test in high-volume transceiver manufacturing environments.

Osa Mok, CMO of TeraHop, noted, “Keysight is a long standing and reliable partner as a critical test technologies provider with high performance and quality. This new line of Keysight sampling oscilloscopes will help to accelerate 1.6 Tbps optical solutions deployment for a new generation of AI compute networking applications.”

The DCA-M oscilloscopes are part of Keysight’s broader 1.6T portfolio of end-to-end test solutions designed to address the increasing transmission rates required by data centers deploying AI and machine learning infrastructure.
