Sunbird releases dcTrack 9.3 with enhanced data center management, power visualization, and rack automation features

Sunbird Software has announced the general availability of dcTrack version 9.3, its updated data center infrastructure management (DCIM) platform. The new release introduces technical enhancements intended to improve modeling, automation, and power distribution management for data center operators and technology vendors.

dcTrack 9.3 features expanded location hierarchies, enabling more granular and customizable levels such as region, country, state, and city. This update allows users to model infrastructure based on real-world structures, providing a more intuitive solution with improved digital twin visualization and reporting capabilities.

The software now incorporates a color-coded outlet ranking system for intelligent rack power distribution units (PDUs). Outlets are ranked by load balance across breakers or phases, where green indicates the best option with lowest usage, yellow represents moderate usage, and red highlights the most heavily loaded. This visual method is intended to help users deploy new power connections efficiently and promote better three-phase and branch circuit balancing to reduce risk of downtime and extend equipment life.

For automation and integration, dcTrack 9.3 adds OAuth2 authentication for the ServiceNow Asset Connector and token-based authentication for dcTrack REST application programming interfaces (APIs), streamlining integration setup and security. The platform also supports service desk synchronization of custom user-defined data fields via ServiceNow custom tables.

New support for patch enclosures and cassettes enables in-depth modeling and visualization of network infrastructure. Users can configure patch enclosures with multiple bays and labeled slots, populate them with cassettes, and review all cassette ports within an enclosure in a structured, consolidated interface to simplify cabling management.

Additional enhancements include visualization of live branch circuit power data from Power IQ, dashboard charting for three-phase current measurements, role-based access control for standard fields, and support for 24 Volt DC power circuits.

“With dcTrack 9.3, we’re continuing our commitment to provide customers with elegant software that’s fast to deploy, easy to use, and complete,” said Herman Chan, President and CEO of Sunbird Software. “This release gives customers more flexible ways to model their environments, improved integrations to automate routine work, and many other enhancements that simplify day-to-day data center management.”
