S&P Global adds datacenterHawk data center and fiber market intelligence

S&P Global has completed its acquisition of datacenterHawk, bringing the data center and fiber infrastructure intelligence provider into S&P Global Energy. The deal links datacenterHawk’s asset-level market data with S&P Global Energy’s coverage of power markets and forecasting, plus research and technology intelligence from 451 Research.

Within S&P Global Energy, datacenterHawk’s dataset spans data center supply, demand, pricing, development pipelines, and site selection. The acquisition also includes datacenterHawk’s FiberLocator platform, which focuses on fiber optic and related infrastructure markets.

For data center engineering and planning teams, the practical angle is the attempt to put facility siting and expansion decisions on the same analytical footing as grid and power-market planning. Data center growth is increasingly constrained by power availability and delivery timelines, so combining power-market intelligence with asset-level data center supply and pipeline information could tighten early-stage feasibility work—if the combined platform is kept current and remains consistent across regions.

“AI is transforming the physical infrastructure and energy systems that underpin the global economy, and our customers need real-time, actionable intelligence that connects all of it—data centers, power grids, compute, and connectivity,” said Dave Ernsberger, President, S&P Global Energy.

The transaction was previously announced in July 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed, and S&P Global said the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on the financial results of S&P Global or the Energy division.
