Modine has announced the official opening of its 100,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Chennai, India, dedicated to producing Airedale by Modine data center cooling equipment for the Asia-Pacific region. This facility initiates full-scale, in-region production to serve demand from hyperscale and colocation data center operators in Asia-Pacific.
According to Modine, the first product coming off the line is the AireWall ONE fan wall, manufactured with 70 percent locally sourced components. The company reports it is working to increase local procurement for its data center solutions. Additional data center cooling products are scheduled to follow, reflecting growing regional demand that industry analysts cite as rising at a 13 percent compound annual growth rate.
Modine reports that the Chennai plant will manufacture a complete range of high-efficiency chillers, indoor air systems, next-generation liquid cooling technologies, intelligent controls, and building management systems suitable for data center environments. The facility complements Modine’s ongoing investments to expand its global production footprint, including recent investments in its US operations.
The company notes a surge in demand for its Airedale by Modine cooling solutions, driven by increased AI application deployments and the scalability needs of high-density IT infrastructure in data centers.
“The data center market in India and across the region is growing rapidly. Establishing in-region manufacturing strengthens our ability to serve APAC data center customers with speed, precision, and locally tailored solutions,” said Eric McGinnis, President, Climate Solutions at Modine.
“Achieving 70% local sourcing is a testament to our commitment to regional growth. This plant not only strengthens our manufacturing capabilities but also creates new opportunities for local employment and collaboration,” said R Sathish, Managing Director of Modine India.
