BTQ Technologies and TIDAL PWR have entered a strategic collaboration aimed at defining a “trusted quantum data center” reference architecture for future facilities that may combine AI, high-performance computing, and quantum systems. The companies are targeting repeatable design and deployment guidance that data center operators can use when evaluating quantum-related infrastructure alongside large-scale AI buildouts.
The initial scope includes quantum data center design principles, trusted supply chain requirements, vendor and device procurement standards, post-quantum cryptographic security considerations, and a repeatable deployment model for facilities integrating quantum systems into AI, HPC, and enterprise environments. BTQ framed the effort as a way to move quantum in the data center from open-ended experimentation toward decisions that can be specified, procured, and secured.
For data center engineering teams, the practical challenge here is governance as much as gear: once quantum systems start showing up in facility roadmaps, operators need a consistent way to evaluate risk, set procurement language, and maintain crypto agility across devices and components that may live in production for years. A reference architecture won’t solve integration by itself, but it can provide a common checklist for architecture reviews, security controls, and vendor qualification before projects turn into one-off designs.
Workstreams the companies outlined
BTQ and TIDAL PWR said the collaboration is expected to include a trusted quantum data center reference architecture for AI, HPC, and future quantum workloads, plus a technical roadmap for integrating quantum systems into large-scale facilities. Other planned elements include procurement standards for devices, chips, and infrastructure components that may require post-quantum security or crypto-agile design, along with supply chain and vendor assessment criteria for trusted quantum infrastructure.
The scope also calls out security frameworks for protecting AI workloads, model weights, training systems, inference traffic, enterprise data, and privileged access, as well as a repeatable deployment model for hyperscale, enterprise, and managed service provider customers. BTQ said its role is expected to center on solutions architecture, post-quantum security guidance, trusted procurement frameworks, and vendor mapping across the quantum infrastructure stack.

The companies said they intend to begin with an initial planning and architecture track, with the potential to expand into deeper technical, commercial, and project-specific work.
